2:18 pm - Thanksgiving Eve
|
The day before Thanksgiving is always fun. Although I'm at work, not much gets done on this day. Most people are standing around chatting it up; which is the way it should be the day before a holiday break!
I'm going to my brother's house in Plymouth Meeting tomorrow for turkey day. I can't wait to eat stuffing.

6:00 pm - First post in years...
|
So I haven't posted since 2006. Yeah, so that makes me...75 years old or something? Actually, I'm 31 and I've been out of the blog game for about 4 years. Let's see if I can keep get back into it. I'm going to tool around LiveJournal to see if I can find any old friends and maybe even make new friends.
Quick update, Michelle and I bought a townhouse last November. Dude, we've been in our house for a little over a year now!

2:59 pm - New Year's Grief
|
Well well well..it's the new year and how did I start it off. By pooping.
and pooping... and pooping...
Yes, I was a victim of either food poisoning or stomach virus. Regardless, my stomach twisted and turned more than a pretzel and made more noise than:
a.) a childcare nursery b.) the kids on Nanny 911 c.) a sold out show at AMC Hamilton Theatre d.) all of the above
And the kicker is, Shell is sick as all hell now! :( She's vomiting though. I hope she feels better soon.
Anyway, Happy New Year, I guess.

2:10 pm - pod
|
So I ate at POD on Saturday night. (www.podrestaurant.com) It's this swank restaurant in downtown Philly. The bill came to $102 bucks...for two people. Kind of expensive, but it was a special day and well worth it all around.
I'm not much of a blogger - I don't really like to take the time to write down my thoughts, observations, and memories. Instead, I like to remember them in my head. I figure, if they're worth remembering, I'll hold on to that memory. Although, maybe I'm just lazy. :)

9:36 am - Gloomy Tuesday
|
So I just got over being sick and it turns out that BFS is sick as all hell now. I assume I got her sick since we spent all weekend together. So Thanksgiving came and went. I ate with my parents, my brother, his wife, and her parents. (got all that?) The food was kind of blah, but I think it was because I was sick. I could hardly taste what I was eating. After dinner I made my way of to BFS' place and chilled with her. I brought her a platter since she spent thanksgiving day alone.
Friday we get up, anticipating a morning and afternoon filled with trash tv (Maury, Judge Judy, Springer, etc.) only to discover when I turn on her tv...nothing. It doesn't work. It's completely broken. So instead of sitting on the couch and laughing at all those morons who are out on Black Friday, we quickly realized it is us who will be participating in the post-thanksgiving madness.
We head out slowly and languidly because we know what is in store for us: long lines, parking spots in the next area code, screaming children... We arrive at Best Buy - get a tv, leave - pretty simple right. We get back and set it up and find the picture is fuzzy/furry. Sucks. So after debating on whether she should return it, BFS makes her decision. Back in the box, we take the tv back to the car and once again roll up to Best Buy. We exchange it with ease and select a new one. My friend Aaron helps us now. After setting the 2nd tv up we head out for some Vodka Rigatoni. After that Aaron goes home.
Saturday we wake to find the new tv is so much better. I'm pleased. BFS seems pleased except for a remote control problem. After calling Comcast twice and looking online we figure out the correct code to punch in to the remote. Now the tv is perfect.
We went out and looked at totes for her sewing stuff; I also ordered an easel for painting. I'm sick of painting on a table - it's annoying.

8:20 am - Updates
|
I started painting again - the first time in about 2 years. It feels so good. I can't describe the joy I get from painting. It's so relaxing. And I'm discovering I'm a lot better than I thought I was. Let's not jump the gun, I still suck, but compared to what I used to paint, I discovered I can do several different styles. Sure they all look cartoony, but hey, that's how I roll bitch! Eventually, I want to get enough work completed to have a little "art show" somewhere. I'm also planning to have a website to sell my crap. For this, I will ask BFS to help me.
Speaking of BFS, we had our 3 month anniversary this past Sunday. I like this girl so much. It worries me though because I think I like her more than she likes me. I don't want to be in this sort of situation. When I first met her, she was recently broken up with some dude named Dustin. The breakup was hard on her, but I figured she'd slowly get over him. Three months into our relationship, and I'm still not certain if the feelings she had for her ex have disappeared. Whenever I say something nice and sweet to her, she seems to not really blush, but almost pull away - like she doesn't want me saying those things because she can't honestly say them back. And it's because of this that leads me to believe that she's not completely over him yet. Bah! I'm freaking out. :\

4:18 pm - More Stuff
|
As an update to my last entry - the 3rd. date went pretty well. I know it sounds strange, but I'm still on the fence about her. With that, I'll just keep things moving very slowly.
Last night we watch Amelie. She's never seen it. She told me she was a tiny bit teary eyed at the end, becasue she thought the movie was going to end before Amelie got the courage to actually speak to Nino.

2:30 pm - "Down By Law" & date night!
|
Bob: "In-a English, do you say I'm-a looking out-a the window or I'm-a looking at-a the window?" Jack: "Well, in this case Bob, you have to say I'm looking at the window."
I have a date tonight. It's actually our 3rd. The third date always seems to be the "make or break" date. You know you like the person, but you're still on the fence on whether you could see yourself getting serious with that person. I'm finding tonight's date more nerve racking than the first one.

This is my second in a series of journal entries. The problem is I have nothing to say.
Let's see...?
I'm getting more Netflix DVDs today. I should be receiving High & Low (a Kurosawa film) and Rikki Oh: The Story of Rikki. I'm on my heathly kick again, which is good b/c I think I gained 5-10 lbs. I've been getting up at 5:30am lately to workout. It feels great but by the time 8pm rolls around, I'm so tired.
I watched "24" last night and it rules as usual.
I enjoy talking with all my old LJ friends again. Manzy219 and AngryGnome - You guys rawk! Keep in touch.

It seems I haven't added a journal entry in about 34 years. So allow me to talk about absolutely nothing of importance now. I was dating a girl named Camille a little while ago. She told me, "I still love my ex-boyfriend and when he comes home from Oxford University with a Ph.D, I will need to make a decision of who I want to be with." Let's just say I made her decision a lot easier. So I'm single again. I know what you're thinking - big surprise. Correct?
So I joined Netflix. This may be the best invention/service ever. All the films I rented so far have been A+ cinema. A bunch of Godard & Kurosawa films as well as lesser known films that I could not find anywhere else. Like Shock Corridor and Battle Royal. Sweet Jesus, was that a great movie or what. Actually, the last 5 minutes with the silly dream sequences kind of sucked, but overall - rock!
Hopefully I'll be motivated enough to post again sometime soon. Maybe.

3:24 pm - yeah so...
|
Thanksgiving was good. I don't know what you had, but I had turkey.
Hank, my fellow Wenis, is moving. Going through all our tapes, we found that we have roughly 18 songs that we have to finish up. And these are serious songs. Which is a rarity for us. These 18 songs aren't about boobs or farts. Anyway, there are some really good moments in about 10 of them.
So...I've been listening to a lot of Doors lately. I don't know what has gotten into me as of late. The album Waiting For The Sun rules...as does LA Woman, although I hate the 2 blues songs on LA Woman. Yeah, so that's that.

7:37 am - Party...
|
So that big party was this Saturday night. It was kind of cool. Filled with hippies, I tell you. And where ever you walked, body odor seemed to follow you. Yes, the whole place smelled like BO. Hippies and their smell au natural. So at one point people starting swimming. Actually, one guy took all his clothes off and jump in the pool. Then a girl went in with her bra and panties. Then another dude went in, in the buff. And then 4 girls went in....completely clothed. They didn't even take the sandals off.
Oh, and another thing while it's fresh in my memory. Apparently hippies really dig German Techno music b/c that's all they played. Which is fine by me. I happen to dig it. But, I would have expected Guster or Country Joe & The Fish to be music choice of the evening.
I saw "Open Water" over the weekend. Kind of boring and anti-climatic. Although the chick had nice cans.
Hank and I practiced yesterday. We have 2 or 3 songs down pretty good now. Only 15 more to go until we have a full 30 minute set. (Our songs are on average 2 minutes in length.)
If anyone wants to buy a 16mm Bolex movie camera, let me know. I got one with YOUR name on it.

4:36 am - Open Mic Night...
|
Hank and I had a Wenis meeting. We agreed that we need to start playing out again. So I found out that there's a bar right around the corner from me that has open mic night on Mondays. This is good, b/c we're completely rusty. This would be a the perfect place/event to hone out mediocre skills. I told Hank about it, but he has to study for his Series 7 test. F him!
So it looks like I'll be flying solo come Monday. I'm sure you're only given 10 minutes to play, so in the Wenis songwriting tradition, I can squeeze 4 or 5 songs in.

4:49 am - Stuff...
|
So I was watching VH1 the other night and came across the AC/DC Behind The Music special. Now AC/DC may be the cheesiest band in da wurl, but Bon Scott had a great voice. In fact, I pulled out my Dirty Deeds album for the first time in about 15 years and listened to it at the gym. Plain and simple, the worst lyrics ever written for sure, but the guy's voice ruled.
This Saturday there's a huge party in Doylestown I'm going too. It's on a farm and there's going to be a band(s). Apparently 500-1000 people are expected. And the word around town is that people are bringing tents to camp out.
I have to go to work now.

I want to go to John & Peter's in No Hope tonight. Maybe they'll be a good band playing? Maybe Gener will be there? Maybe Gener and Matt Stone? How exciting that would be! I'm waking up at 4:45am to go to the gym these days. It's EXTREMELY hard to start doing that again.
My buddy Jon, whom I spoke with last week, said that he wants to record some new El Ghoul tracks. El Ghoul may have to come out of retirement.
